Judging of the submitted photos will occur in four different categories:

Civil War Battlefields
This category is for all your great photos of scenic Civil War battlefields.

People on Civil War Battlefields
This category focuses on people visiting or enjoying Civil War battlefields.

Preservation Threats
Enter your photos that showcase modern threats to Civil War battlefields.

Then & Now
In this category entrants will upload a historic photo and a modern photo
of the same Civil War site.

Judging

Our panel of judges will consider all submitted photos and will choose a First, Second, and Third place winner in each of the four categories and they will also select one Grand Prize winner from the entire group of submitted photos.

Awards & Recognition

All winning photos will be promoted in various CWPT publications and on our Civilwar.org website. In addition winning photos will receive the following:

Grand Prize (1):
One winner will receive a 2008 CWPT Digital Photo Contest Grand Prize plaque. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a one-year CWPT membership and complimentary registration to our 2009 Annual Conference: The Fields of Gettysburg (a $585 value – for more details click here).

First Place (4 total):
One winner in each category will receive a 2008 CWPT Digital Photo Contest plaque. The First Place winners will also receive a one-year CWPT membership (or membership extension).

Additionally, the winner of the “Then and Now” category will receive a free registration to the Center for Civil War Photography’s 2009 Image of War seminar (date and location to be announced).

Second (4) and Third (4) Place:
winners in each category will receive a 2008 CWPT Digital Photo Contest certificate.

All photos must be submitted and properly tagged between June 1st, 2008 and August 31st, 2008. Judging and the selection of the winning photos will occur in September 2008. Please read our Official Rules for more details.
